Hard Mix-Featured Artist Spotlight

-C.Sullivan

I live in Greenville, SC and saying the music scene here is small would be giving it credit. That’s why I’m pretty excited about the song “Memories by Hard Mix.  Hard Mix is a native of Greenville, SC and is putting out some of the chilliest, soulful songs that are coming out on the internet currently. His album Weirdly Different should be dropping sometime in February.  While “Memories” won’t make the cut for that album you can check it out below. The video is pretty cool because the footage is actually home videos from the life of Hard Mix’s, Noah Smith. The song itself is driven with a super tight disco groove overflowing with funk that is sure please.  The vocal sample of  The Four Tops “It’s The Same Old Song” will evoke immediate earning to visit past times you underappreciated the first time around.  The song reminds me of some sort of low key RJD2 or Washed Out.  As similar as these artists are to Hard Mix their songs seem made to just vibe out to, which is fine.  However, Hard Mix seems to make his songs to evoke some sort of emotion, good or bad, not just spread chill vibes.
